Inno26 & IdeaFest Spring: From Ideas to Impact at Radford

Inno26 & IdeaFest Spring: From Ideas to Impact at Radford

This April, Radford University came alive with innovation, creativity, and entrepreneurial energy through two signature events: IdeaFest and the INNO26 Innovation Challenge. Together, these experiences showcased the full journey of student innovation, from early-stage idea exploration to high-impact business pitches.

IdeaFest, held from April 13–24 across all floors of Kyle Hall, highlighted the work of students in ENTR 240 and 250. Through poster displays, students shared their problem exploration, research insights, and early-stage ideas. What made IdeaFest especially impactful was its interactive element: faculty, peers, and community members engaged with each project by scanning QR codes and providing feedback on feasibility, viability, and desirability. This created a dynamic environment where ideas were not just presented, but actively refined.

That energy carried into the INNO26 Innovation Challenge on April 24, where students in ENTR 350 and 450 took their ideas to the next level. Hosted in Kyle Hall 156, the event mirrored a real-world investor pitch environment. Teams delivered concise, compelling presentations, clearly articulating their solutions, value propositions, and potential impact, while responding to thoughtful questions from a panel of experienced judges.

This year’s standout teams represented both creativity and strong execution across tracks. In the Main Street Businesses track, Auren earned 1st place overall and 1st in track. Auren's concept is ultra-small luxury micro-retreats (3–10 rooms) nestled in nature-based locations, offering curated, phone-free wellness escapes designed for true rest and mental reset. Guests enjoy 2–3 night stays complete with private accommodations, structured wellness activities, nature access, and a guided digital detox built for full disconnection and recovery. Frame Studio, placed 2nd in the track their concept is a niche, content-focused beauty studio designed specifically for social media creators, offering services like nails and makeup along with bundled packages tailored for content days and special occasions.

In the Innovative Ventures track, NeuroMove took 1st place with a powerful concept centered on the connection between movement and emotional well-being. Their platform offers an adaptive online experience where users take a brief survey to assess their mood and receive personalized movement recommendations aimed at improving mental stability. ReconAI, which earned 2nd place, introduced a technology-driven solution that automates financial reconciliation, matching transactions, detecting discrepancies, and providing users with a clear, real-time view of their financial data.

A key part of the INNO26 experience was the opportunity for students to receive direct feedback from accomplished professionals. Judges including Dan McKinney, Chance Smith, Marty Rosendale, and Kevin Rodgers brought real-world insight, challenging students to think critically and refine their ideas further.

From IdeaFest’s exploratory posters to INNO26’s polished pitches, these events represent more than coursework, they reflect a full entrepreneurial journey. Students are not just learning about innovation; they are actively practicing it, identifying problems, building solutions, and gaining the confidence to share their ideas in meaningful ways.

As the momentum from these events continues, one thing is clear: innovation at Radford is thriving, and the next generation of entrepreneurs are already making an impact!
