The Power of Alumni Networks
Alumni networks are more than just a list of names and graduation years; they are a community of individuals who share a common bond – their alma mater. Radford University's alumni network is no exception; it comprises a diverse group of professionals across various industries, including many successful entrepreneurs. Here's why tapping into this network is crucial for aspiring entrepreneurs:
Insights and Wisdom:
Alumni who have ventured into entrepreneurship have a wealth of knowledge and experience to share. They've walked the entrepreneurial path and have faced both successes and challenges. By connecting with them, you can gain valuable insights into:
- Navigating the early stages of a startup
- Overcoming obstacles and setbacks
- Identifying opportunities in specific industries
- Developing effective business strategies
These insights can be the difference between making informed decisions and stumbling in the dark.
Meet Our Entrepreneurial Alumni: Stories of Success
Radford University boasts an impressive roster of alumni who have harnessed their entrepreneurial spirits and achieved remarkable success in various fields. These individuals have not only made a significant impact on their respective industries but have also contributed to the university's legacy of excellence. From tech innovators to business moguls, Radford alumni have demonstrated that with determination and ingenuity, they can make it big for themselves and inspire others to do the same. I want to highlight a few of these accomplished Radford alumni who have carved out their own paths to success through entrepreneurship.
First up, the Venture Lab’s very own Director Professor Samantha Steidle! Professor Steidle graduated from Radford University in 2004. During her time at Radford, she created her own event planning business, gaining valuable experience and contacts. She has also been instrumental in creating various co-working spaces, including Co-lab and Venture Lab, across the region. Her dedication and hard work have been crucial to her success.
Second, there's Kevin Donahue. He graduated from Radford University in 1995. Donahue's success and drive began at Radford University, where he was taught to think critically about the world around him. Prior to his career successes, Donahue explored various fields, including law enforcement, construction, and computer software. Eventually, he found his true calling in entrepreneurship. Donahue was the CEO of Executive Sales Source and now serves as the Director of Sales. He is also a facilitator of NTC Cyber Security and an Account Director of Tevora, making him a go-to guy for corporate entrepreneurial endeavors.
Last but certainly not least, we have Kristen and Chris Nietzold, owners of Route 8 Donuts! This successful donut shop made the list as one of the “Top 50 Donut Shops in the US 2020.” Radford University is proud to call both Kristen ‘14 and Chris ‘10 alumni. These two gained valuable experience from the COBE. Kristen noted that the reason for their Facebook marketing success came from none other than Professor Angela Stanaland! Professor Stanaland taught them how to market effectively in her social media marketing course. Chris gained management experience from his class with Professor Jerry Kopf. At the end of his course, he presented a business plan that served as the true model for Route 8 Donuts.
